Alms, Kyoto 1996

Based on a photograph I took when visiting Japan in October 1996, this painting is made with Procion MX fiber reactive dyes on cotton. The quilting enhances the painting and continues the image into the "mat and frame." There are about 20 different colors of thread used in this nearly monochromatic piece.
