Book of Hours 10

>

For the reverse side of my book, I didn't want to leave it blank, so I created a full-length (80 inches!) image taking the hills of Hope, Maine, from winter through spring, summer and autumn, back to winter, and from night through morning, noon, afternoon and back to night.  I still love Aragorn's Song (known back in the day as Strider's Poem) by J.R.R. Tolkien, from the Lord of the Rings.  I used it as my senior quote, and it is so apt to life in general, not just the books.  It is written in acrylic ink with dip pen.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes, a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
And the crownless again shall be king.

-- J.R.R. Tolkien
